Hello all, this is an inivitation to an exhibition that I am in titled “Hello Liberty” which opens this Wednesday September 24 from 5-8 pm at Agnes Scott College. I am premiering a new video which was created for an exhibit in Minneapolis, MN titled “Exploding Language”. Based on a painting by AfriCobra founder (and my former professor)Jeff Donaldson, the video is a community portrait of North Minneapolis. The finished video will be projected onto the side of a barber shop in the neighborhood this Friday night September 26 so that the people who are in the video can see themselves as part of the artwork. If you cannot make it to the opening on Wednesday the artist talks will occur on November 20 if you would like to hear directly from the artists about their works. Hope to see you there.

Just getting back from an International Social Sciences conference in Prato, Italy. I was there from July 20-27 and I was able to go to Florence, Pisa, and Rome. You can see the pics from the trip here:

I’m going to Minneapolis on the 27th of June to look at the location where my new video will be presented as part of Exploding Language curated by Obsidian Arts. I’ll be shooting video of people from the local community and learning about the other artist’s work. Hopefully I’ll be able to look at some other art spaces while I am there. I’m going back for the opening of the show in late August.

I will be speaking about my work Thursday Feb. 21st at Spelman College in Atlanta. The location will be LL31 in the Cosby Center (lower level) and the lecture starts at 6:30 pm. I’ll be going over recent work and answering questions from the students.
